UK Braces for Hottest Day of 2023 with Soaring Temperatures Reaching 24°C

On Friday, April 4, much of the UK is set to bask in dry, sunny conditions, with temperatures in central England expected to reach a notable 24C. This warmth signals a striking shift in seasonal weather, with the Met Office noting that it could surpass popular destinations like Marbella, Ibiza, Mykonos, and even Los Angeles.

So far this year, the highest temperature recorded was 21.3C in Northolt, west London, and Chertsey, Surrey on March 20, making today’s forecast particularly significant as it could mark the warmest day of the year to date. Forecaster Dan Stroud highlighted a contrast in conditions, with inland areas feeling July-like warmth, while some eastern coastal regions remain cooler due to an easterly breeze.

The average temperature for early April typically hovers around 12C in England and 10C in Scotland. Despite some regions experiencing passing clouds and showery rain—particularly in south-west England and Wales—most of the country is poised for a predominantly fine and dry spring day with ample sunshine.

As the UK embraces this warm spell, it also grapples with the challenges posed by recent wildfires in Scotland and Dorset. With a promise of warmth on the horizon, enjoy the spring day, while remaining mindful of the fire risks in certain areas.
