Two Arrested After Daring Train Heist Steals Millions in Nike Shoes
In a dramatic turn of events, Arizona police arrested two suspects linked to a series of train heists targeting Nike shoes. Over the past year, thieves have stolen millions of dollars worth of merchandise from freight trains in the Mojave Desert. Authorities are currently investigating at least ten similar robberies.
The Hualapai Nation Police Department intercepted a maroon Chevy Tahoe suspected of involvement in these crimes early Thursday morning. During this stop, the driver, a man from Mexico, was detained while eight others fled the scene. Stolen Nike shoes were discovered nearby, indicating a significant connection to the ongoing investigation.
In a separate incident, officers arrested a woman driving a white Toyota 4Runner, who failed to yield to an emergency vehicle. Upon approaching her vehicle, police observed signs of criminal activity possibly linked to the train thefts. In a chaotic moment, she attempted to flee the scene, striking a patrol officer but fortunately causing no injuries.
The pursuit lasted approximately 80 miles, ending when the woman’s car lost control near the Arizona-California border. She was hospitalized with minor injuries. Both suspects have been booked at the Mohave County Adult Detention Center, and authorities confirmed their illegal status in the U.S. as part of the ongoing investigation into these brazen train robberies. Police efforts reflect a heightened crackdown on theft impacting freight transport and retail.
