Putin and Trump Reach 30-Day Energy Infrastructure Ceasefire: What’s Next?

In a significant diplomatic move, Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted a proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump for a 30-day ceasefire, focusing on halting attacks on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine. Following a lengthy phone conversation, both leaders agreed to initiate negotiations for a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea. The aim is to pave the way for a full ceasefire and lasting peace, addressing Europe’s largest conflict since the Second World War. This conflict has tragically resulted in widespread casualties and displacement. While Putin previously indicated conditional support for such a truce, the momentum now appears to favor dialogue to resolve the ongoing crisis.
