Oxfordshire Paedophile Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Disturbing Crimes

Robert Coleman, 42, was sentenced on March 28 at Oxford Crown Court for a series of horrific offenses, including sexual assault and distributing indecent images of a child. He pleaded guilty to multiple charges, which involved penetration of a female aged 13 and over, as well as taking and sharing indecent photographs of minors. His actions came to light in May 2021 when he uploaded illicit content via a social media account, leading to an investigation by the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team.

After a crackdown on his activities, law enforcement executed a warrant at his residence in Banbury, where they found 279 indecent images and videos on his mobile phone. Despite initially denying taking the photos, he admitted to sharing them online during police interviews. Following his arrest on July 8, 2021, and formal charges on November 8, 2024, Coleman has now been placed on the sex offenders register for life, along with a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and restraining orders regarding his victims.

Investigator Jeff Wheble commended the bravery of Coleman’s victims and reassured others that law enforcement remains dedicated to tackling sexual offenses. He emphasized that support is available for anyone who has suffered similarly, encouraging them to come forward without hesitation. The significant sentence reflects the severity of the crimes committed, spotlighting ongoing efforts to bring justice to victims of sexual violence.
