Harvard Unveils Groundbreaking Free Tuition for Families Earning Under $200K a Year
Harvard University announced a groundbreaking initiative: starting in the 2025-26 academic year, undergraduate tuition will be free for families earning $200,000 or less, enhancing access for a wider range of students. For those earning $100,000 or less, tuition, food, housing, health insurance, and travel costs will also be covered. Approximately 86% of U.S. families will qualify for financial aid, with additional benefits like $2,000 start-up and launch grants for eligible students. This initiative continues from Harvard’s Financial Aid Initiative, which has increased support since 2004, currently aiding 55% of undergraduates. Other institutions, including the University of Texas and MIT, are similarly expanding aid to promote equity in education.
