Ex-Green Beret’s Wife Charged with Murder: Shocking Allegations of Dismemberment Over Divorce

In a shocking turn of events in North Carolina, Shana Cloud, 50, faces serious charges including first-degree murder after the disappearance of her husband, Clinton Bonnell, 50, a recently retired Green Beret. Authorities allege that Bonnell was killed and dismembered following a conversation about divorce on January 27, 2025. His remains were discovered in February in a body of water southeast of Fayetteville, with DNA confirming the identity just last week.

Cloud, who was denied bond, reportedly left the gym with Bonnell the day before he was reported missing. Upon awakening the next day, she noted his vehicle was home but claimed she could not locate him and opted against filing a missing persons report.

District Attorney Billy West stated that new digital and video evidence potentially ties Cloud to the area where the remains were found. Meanwhile, Bonnell had recently retired after over two decades of military service and was enrolled in a physician assistant program at a local university. His girlfriend, who filed a missing persons report soon after school officials alerted authorities, revealed that he had consulted a lawyer about the impending divorce shortly before his disappearance.
