Decision Nears on Controversial 71-Home Development in Charming Oxfordshire Village
Developer L&Q Estates has proposed a housing scheme near Hook Norton, seeking to build 71 homes on land north of The Bourne. An access road would facilitate vehicle and pedestrian entry. However, local residents express concerns over increased traffic on already-busy roads, drainage issues, and strains on facilities like schools and medical services. Hook Norton Parish Council argues this plan represents overdevelopment, asserting the land isn’t designated for housing in Cherwell’s Local Plan for 2031 or 2042. The scheme includes 35% affordable homes to address Cherwell’s housing shortage. Planning officers recommend granting permission if ecological and flooding concerns are resolved. A decision will be made at the March 20 Cherwell District Council meeting.
